If there’s a prettier sport than horse racing, I don’t know what it is. Watching the horses go by for the first time in today’s featured G3 Excelsior at Aqueduct was like watching a rainbow! By the second time around, one horse had moved clear of the rest. Last Gunfighter continued his ever upward ascent, securing his first graded stakes win. The four-year-old son of First Samurai is five-for-five since joining trainer Chad Brown. It was nice to see jockey Rajiv Maragh aboard for the win. Maragh rode Last Gunfighter to victory in December 9’s Raymond Earl Stakes, but missed the Evening Attire when sidelined with a fractured vertebrae. This was his first stakes win since returning to the saddle.
